Re: Bulldog Prep
Is some sort of hearing protection recommended for this Operation?
Besides the midcaps and bio bb's what other items do you recommend for a first timer to include with their kit.
One other thing, what are the medic rules for this OP? If they are already on here where can I find them?

That would be John's Chief of Staff along with their staff members who make this event possible.hooker wrote:Hey man thank you, that does help! When you say game control though, what are you referring to?
Shemagh's are an option. Other options can be neoprene half masks that you find at airsoft retailers, or if you have the cash, the Revision protective face masks. Because of the possibility that you will find yourselves fighting within buildings in tight corridors, the idea is to prevent your face from being bloodied by a hail of BBs or chipping your teeth from accidental near encounters. I personally am comfortable running with shemaghs, but I have seen the results of close encounters with BBs. . . it ultimately boils down to what you are comfortable with in the risk/benefit ratio.zmonster wrote:RFI on full face protection,
Have shooters asking about what that means, will a shemagh work?
Hearing protection is entirely up to you. If/when opfor throw ThunderBs to clear the room you are in, there will be a loud bang (which is the nature of the simulation). If you work in a industry that requires sensitive hearing as your day job or you just have sensitive hearing in general, then you should seriously consider having hearing protection. The likelihood of you getting tinnitus is relatively small, but the risk still exists when participating in an event like this. Just be aware of the tradeoffs if you decide to go with cheap ear plugs, as they will severely degrade your situational awareness where it is crucial to your longevity on the field. I personally run with MSA Sordins, which dampens sudden loud noises, amplifies ambient background noise, and allows me to patch in 2 separate radios when I have to lead a platoon.MechanicSeraph wrote:Is some sort of hearing protection recommended for this Operation?

Kit checklist will be provided as part of your player's packet.
And by the same token, medic rules will also be address in the player's packet.

Its not about how many people I have killed, it is about how I get along with people that are still alive.

Thanks for your response on the questions.
Re: Bulldog Prep - Game Control
Any 'Game Control' on the BD forum yet?
Re: Bulldog Prep
Another RFI on the use of cold smoke, is it allowed?

Unless something has changed and Game Control says otherwise, we have used cold smokes at BD before. If I were you I would wait for Game Control to confirm before ordering any.Zmonster wrote:Another RFI on the use of cold smoke, is it allowed?

Re: Bulldog Prep
RVs are permitted with the exception of large RVs with advertisement graphics. The military would prefer to stay away from anything that flashy. There are no hookups and the RV will need to be self contained. I will be in Gatesville this weekend and post a listing of local services. I will include a local campsite if there is one within reasonable distance.Backdraft wrote:I will be driving in from Beaumont TX, if any one on the way is interested in car pulling just let me know. Also my brother would like to know if RV's are permitted at the camp site.
FYI - individual vehicles that are "wrapped" with graphics are not a problem.

Once the final squad assignments are set (tentative for the 15th) you can work that out with your particular squad leader.Hilt wrote:How does one go about requesting a specialist spot on their squad? I have an M79 thats itching for some use.

Medic Rules will be convered in detail on the WARNORD.MechanicSeraph wrote:Is some sort of hearing protection recommended for this Operation?

Midcaps and bios are a good start. Triple the amount of consumables you were thinking - water, food, batteries, etc.... For hardware - I recommend at least 1 backup for everything. I will post a more thorough inventory.
Hearing protection? Good question. Hearing protection is not required. BUT you do run a risk from a lucky bb hit AND, AND, AND the risk of being in a 10 X 10 room when a Thunder B goes off. I have seen simple earplugs more and more often on CBQ fields due to this. So do what is best for you. If you decide to wear hearing protection you will likely not be alone.

Re: Bulldog Prep
COLD SMOKE ONLY. Please make sure your squad leader inspects it to cover your ass. For those of you reading this and wondering if what you have Cold Smoke - the answer is likely "NO" so please leave it at home. No fireworks or any other smoke device that requires a flame or ejects a flame.Dark Paladin wrote:Unless something has changed and Game Control says otherwise, we have used cold smokes at BD before. Your best bet is always to show your squad leader your gear: rifle, pistol, rubber knife, grenades (distraction/expelling/smoke). It will give you the security of a second set of eyes on your situation and give your SL knowledge of who has what and how to use the entire squad as a weapon. It would suck if the SL was looking at a situation and thinking, "Man I wish I had some smoke." not knowing you had a backpack full.

Re: Bulldog Prep
Game Control will announce which colors are off limits for head covers. This is only so that there will be no confusion on IDing NPCs and staff on the field. This will most likely be covered in the player's packet.Backdraft wrote:Are helmets going to have a color rule?

Re: Bulldog Prep
Yes. Head cover - hats and helmets - need to match the primary color of your uniform. They do not have to match the pattern (although preferred). So if you are US forces - tan head cover. If you are Russian/Syrian - green head cover.Backdraft wrote:Are helmets going to have a color rule?

Re: Bulldog Prep
I scouted Gatesville this past weekend. There are plenty of hotels and 2 RV campgrounds (although both looked a little full). For tent camping - the closest thing I saw was Mother Neff State Park. I am not familiar with the facilities there. If tent camping - I recommend camping in the designated camping area across from the AO. DO NOT CHOOSE YOUR OWN CAMPSITE. There will be a Camping Admin as well as Parking Admins to get you to the right place.
Gatesville has an HEB (groceries) and a 24 Hour WalMart.
There are plenty of local restaurants including your standard fast food chains and some local offerings. One warning on the local places - they are not in a hurry so you shouldn't be. Good food - just relax. There are a couple of places open 24 hours in case you are arriving late Friday.
