DMR roles may be considered for future events depending on terrain and type of AO, typical engagement distances, etc...

No way a Squad DM class could be added for this Op?

Limit that class to Semi-only AEG for accurate support fire?

as well as possibly other limits to balence out?

I think that's pretty much the definition of a sniper as it applies to Irene, and as such is already covered in the ROE.

Bear, please excuse my tendancy to sound like a jackass, but a "Sniper" and "Squad Designated Marksman" are 2 entirely different things.

a Snipers role is as a force multiplier, Scout and recon and as a psycological warfare tool. They operate indipendant of the main force and are a part of the enviroment they function in.

a Squad Designated Marksman is a member of his Squad or Platoon that can function as a standard infintryman and provide accurate long distance support fire. They are not highly trained and specialized troopers such as a true Sniper. A DM is simply the member of the unit that shoots the best!

Animal544....

This is Airsoft, remember? This is not the real world.

AEG's and Sniper weapons have almost the same range, so how different
are they when deployed in a MilSim operation?

I know the difference. I was referring to the definition as far as the Operation Irene 6 Rules of Engagement, hence my statement of "as it applies to Irene".

As I said above....the particular AO an event is being held in and the typical ranges of engagements play a part in whether or not Snipers and/or DM's can or should be allowed...it is a safety issue as well.

There will be no "DM" class at THIS particular event, this year, that is all. It may be considered for future events...final answer for OPI VI though.
