Goggle Requirements

Post by JAD777 » Sun Jul 29, 2012 8:28 pm

What will the goggle requirements be?

Will Eye shields such as the Revision crossbows and the Oakley M-Frame be acceptable with an attached retention strap?

Full seal goggles. If they are not full seal then no go.
This is a guide so if you're still unsure ask through your chain of command or a moderator.

6.5 EYE PROTECTION
6.5.1 Eye protection must have a rubber/foam/soft material seal that closely conforms to your facial features.
6.5.2 Eye protection must be secured against the head via tight elastic or adjustable strap that pulls flush against the head.
6.5.3 Eye protection should be ANZI Z87.1 compliant or better. This standard is usually posted either on the packaging or on the manufacturer's website.
6.5.4. WIRE MESH GOGGLES if approved for use at a particular AO must conform to the same conditions as 6.5.1 & 6.5.2 above. In addition:

a. Wire mesh goggles MUST be made from stamped steel and not deform from repeated close range hits. We recommend players test their mesh goggles in a carefully controlled environment before attending an event with this type of goggles/face protection.
b. It is recommended that some form of protective eyewear be worn under the MESH to protect the eyes from the possibility of damage from fragments

NOTE Wire Mesh goggles of any kind are not approved for use at OP- IRENE or OPNL

6.5.5 Eye protection will be checked as part of morning inspection before the game.

No such thing as Revision Crossbows, they're ESS Crossbows.

Heads up to M-frame users. Oakley is putting out a HELO kit. That should make m-frames conform to full seal requirements. Coming out "early this quarter".

Would like to double check that the Oakley M-frame with a HELO kit is acceptable eyewear.
Ballistic lenses, of course

That depends on if they make a full seal ON YOU. I have seen several people wear them and have huge gaps at the nose or on the sides because of their face. If you are one of these people, leave the "look cool" crap at home and bring something that conforms to you, and the rules.

Can an admin confirm or deny if the Arena Flakjaks MUST have the vents in them? I have taken mine out and more than likely will not be able to find the vents. I have some save faces, but they have just as big of a gap as the Arena's. Any clarification would be great.

Thank you!

Not an official, but trust me Arena Flakjac goggles with the vent inserts removed are not going to be allowed. This is true CQB and you definately want your eyes protected from all angles.
